Remember: Don't taste art
Thom Smith
Some visitors to Northwood
University's "Chocolate Covered World" exhibition by the
Persian-born artist Reza, now of Singer Island, are a bit too literal.
Reza's big on food: Chocolate Cherry Cake, Reese's and M&Ms are titles
of his paintings that look good enough to eat.
As do Reza's sculptures. One
gallery visitor left bite marks in a plaster Ores. Another sampled a
tablet from Reza's rendition of Ex-Lax (must have been the binding agent
in the Ores), but quickly spat it into a napkin that he tossed into a
trash can. Reza retrieved the tablet, damaged but not ruined, and returned
it to its proper place.
The exhibition ends April 23.
